Gambrinus Fellowship

This fellowship program provides funding for renowned visiting scholars at TU Dortmund University.

Call for nominations 2020

Potential candidates must be nominated by the Deans of the Faculties or the Directors of the Central Scientific Institutions.

Nominations must include the following documents:

  • a letter of support for the candidate,
  • a short overview of the candidate’s scientific career and profile,
  • a calculation of the prospective travel and subsistence expenses.

As the program targets the establishment of new contacts, the nominations of international scholars with no previous stays to TU Dortmund University are especially prioritized.

Nominations of possible candidates for a Gambrinus Fellowship have to be sent to the Prorector Research, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Sadowski, by 30 April 2020.

Please note the following conditions:

As a central element of the Gambrinus Fellowship program, visiting scholars are required to perform tasks in teaching and research at TU Dortmund University and give a university-wide lecture. Visiting scholars will be integrated in the nominating faculties which will also provide room and equipment for the stay. It is expected that the respective faculties will cover 30 percent  of the requested funding.

The amount of the individual Gambrinus Fellowships will be calculated on the basis of the candidate’s prospective costs for travel and subsistence. Costs for subsistence are based on a daily allowance of €80. The length of the stay at TU Dortmund University may vary between a few days and a maximum of six weeks.

After being granted a Gambrinus Fellowship, the nominating faculty member of TU Dortmund University is required to submit a final report on the visiting scholar’s activities to the Prorector Research and support the public relations activities regarding the visit on request. Due to tax regulations, written proof must be provided that the visiting scholar participated in teaching activities at the faculty.

An awards committee headed by the Prorector Research, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Sadowski, will decide about the nominations. Decisions will be primarily based on the scientific reputation of the candidates.

TU Dortmund University would like to thank the Sparkasse Dortmund for the generous support of the Gambrinus-Fellowship program.

Questions can be directed to Dr. Barbara Schneider or Jane Artmann (International Office).
