Offers for Refugees


Language training for refugees provided by TU Dortmund University

Since January 2017, TU Dortmund University provides funds for German language courses offered by cooperating language schools which prepare refugees for their future studies. These language courses are funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Online application is currently not available.

All applicants will be contacted via e-mail after the selection process.

Due to a large number of applications, there is no guarantee to get a spot in this funded language training.

Open courses for refugees

TU Dortmund University kindly invites refugees to participate in a variety of public events in the city center as well as on campus.

Find out about interesting topics, improve your German languages skills, discover new places and get to know new people in Dortmund. You can find an overview about the offered courses here.


Certificate of consultation for uni-assist

If you apply for a Bachelor's program at TU Dortmund University, you need to send us your documents via uni-assist. Refugees can apply for an exemption from the application costs.

If you need a certificate of consultation for your application, visit the "uni-assist - office hour" (Wednesdays 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Room 214a).

You do not need a queue number.

Please bring the following documents with you:

  • your university entrance qualification (Abitur and if applicable your university transcript)
  • Identification card


Hint: Your uni-assist exemption is valid until 2019.

Classes offered by the Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science offers selected classes for refugees from war and civil war who have studied Computer Science in their home countries. It contains a special study program with English lecutures and special student services. Good German or English language skills are a preccondition.
