Internships in Dortmund

TU Dortmund University is not only a great place to study, but it is also host to interns from all over the world each year. Once you have found an internship position in Dortmund, please refer to the handbook for international students to learn more about living in Dortmund and the Ruhr Area.

Please note that these programs are only open to students from abroad. If you are already a degree-seeking student at TU Dortmund University, and you are looking for an internship in Germany, please get in touch with your department.


ERASMUS+ Internships

International students from ERASMUS+ partner countries interested in conducting an internship at TU Dortmund University should first research in which faculty they want to complete the internship and then discuss the possibility of an internship with a potential supervisor. After the supervisor has confirmed the internship, ERASMUS+ interns can contact Miriam Gothe for information on enrolment, housing and living in Dortmund.


RISE: Research Internships in Science and Engineering

TU Dortmund University and the other schools in the University Alliance Ruhr (Ruhr-Uni Bochum and the University of  Duisburg-Essen) have made the Ruhr Area one of the most popular German destinations each summer for students in the RISE program. Please refer to the database of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to see the available positions for summer research internships. The database opens each year in November and the application deadline is usually mid-December.


WISE: Working Internships in Science and Engineering

Any students wishing to participate in the WISE program from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) should directly contact the department at TU Dortmund University in which they would prefer to work. The International Office does not match students up with research internships in the WISE program.


IAESTE Internships

TU Dortmund University is host to many IAESTE interns each year. The International Office helps interns get situated in Dortmund and has a variety of activities to help them get to know other students and the area. Please ask at your own university to see if your university participates in IAESTE.


Ruhr Fellowship

The University Alliance Ruhr (TU Dortmund University, Ruhr-Uni Bochum and the University of  Duisburg-Essen) offers up to 20 summer Ruhr Fellowships. Only students from participating partner universities may apply.
