DAAD STIBET Graduation Scholarships

Targetgroup:

Admitted international students and international doctoral candidates at TU Dortmund University only!

TU Dortmund University offers graduation scholarships to admitted international students and international doctoral candidates several times a year. The graduation scholarship is meant to support international students finishing their studies who are in financial hardships by no fault of their own.

Info: Graduation scholarships can only be provided to students and doctoral candidates who have registered their thesis and who are in financial need.

To apply, please submit the following documents:

- Completed application form

- Confirmation of registration for your final thesis (page 9 of the application; to be filled out by the Examinations Office) (Prüfungsamt)

- Tabular résumé

- Enrollment certificate

- Transcript of records

- Bank statements from the last three months (March 2020 until May 2020)

- If applicable, credit card statements for the last three months

- Proof of a blocked account, legal obligation to pay, scholarship or earnings

- Copy of your residency permit

- If applicable, bank statements from your spouse

- If applicable, a copy of your current work contract

Application deadline: 24 May 2020

Please submit your application to the International Office on time. You can drop your application off at the after-hours mailbox located next to the main building of the International Office or in the secretary's office at room 209B or personally to Ms. Verena Wolf in room 212.

DAAD Award 2020

Targetgroup:

Admitted international students and international doctoral candidates at TU Dortmund University only!

The award - worth €1,000 - distinguishes an outstanding international student or doctoral candidate who has excelled through particular academic performance as well as remarkable social or intercultural commitment.

Professors, international student advisors or supervisors etc. may nominate applicants.

Nominations should be made timely, since the recommendations from the dean’s dffice must be submitted to the International Office by 15 August 2020. The rectorate will subsequently review the nominations and pick the awardee.

Application requirements:

Only international applicants with a foreign higher education entrance qualification may apply.

The candidates should

- study in a Bachelor's degree program (at least 2nd or 3rd year),

- study in a Master's degree program (at least 2nd semester) or

- be pursuing their doctorate degree.

Those who have recently completed their studies may also be nominated (graduation must be no longer than three months back at the award ceremony).

Following documents must be submitted for the application process:

- Nomination letter by the dean of the faculty, international student advisor, faculty student council, final thesis supervisor etc.

- Tabular résumé of the candidate

- Transcript of records

- Enrollment certificate

- Proof of social or intercultural commitment at TU Dortmund University

- One to three letters of recommendation from other parties, e.g. employer, previous professors, supervisors, tutors etc.

- Motivation letter of the applicant (briefly describe why you are applying for the DAAD Award)

Note: The DAAD Award is not a research award and therefore is not for the scientific acknowledgement of a doctoral thesis.

Note: The award money cannot be distributed among more than one person and cannot be awarded to DAAD scholarship recipients or to foreign students with a German education.

DAAD STIBET Community Engagement Grants

Targetgroup:

Admitted international doctoral candidates at TU Dortmund University only!

Within the scope of the DAAD project STIBET Doktoranden, funded by the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt), TU Dortmund University provides community engagement grants for international doctoral candidates. The grant's aim is to support international doctoral candidates at TU Dortmund University who are characterized by good academic results as welll as a high community engagement in the international context related to the university. The goal is to honor community engagement, support it and motivate future involvement. The scholarship can be awarded for a maximum of 12 months, whereby exceptional extensions are possible.

Who can apply?

The application is open for international doctoral candidates, who

- have acquired their university entry qualification outside of Germany

- are enrolled at TU Dortmund

- distinguish themselves by extraordinary community engagement in international affairs related to TU Dortmund University

Extent and duration of funding:

The extent of the funding is minimum €250/month and the grants are awarded for up to 12 months.

- Proof of distinguished community engagement in the international context related to TU Dortmund University

- Letters of recommendation

- Transcript of records

- Enrollment certificate

NRWege ins Studium:

Scholarships for refugees during the initial phase of the studies

Targetgroup:

Only International Students with refugee background in first program semester or after application for their studies at TU Dortmund University!

The scholarships for students with a refugee background offer the possibility of financial support during the initial phase of their studies, i.e. the first two semesters. This financial support is available to those students who are either in their first semester or shortly before taking up their studies at TU Dortmund University.

The following documents are necessary for the application:

- fully completed and signed application form

- current enrollment confirmation of TU Dortmund University, respectively confirmation of receipt of study application, respectively acknowledgement of study place (e.g. printout of confirmation email)

- copy of residence permit (verification of refugee background)

- certificates from a language school or institute

- officially recognized German language certificate (e.g. the German language examination for university admission, DSH)

- letter of motivation

If available:

- proof of income (employment contract, proof of income of the last three months)

- proof of the receipt of BAföG, other scholarships or state benefits

- proof of previous handling of living expenses as well as savings

- proof of/reference letter on social or community commitment

NRWege ins Studium:

Study scholarships for refugees

Targetgroup:

Only International Students with refugee background currently at least in their second program semester or soon to start at leat the second program semester!

These scholarships are for especially talented students with a refugee background who are at least in the second program semester of their studies or shortly before starting the second program semester. This scholarship grants financial support between one and three years.

The following documents are necessary for the application:

- fully completed and signed application form

- current enrollment certificate of TU Dortmund University

- proof of previous study achievements (current transcript of records)

- officially recognized German language certificate (e.g. the German language examination for university admission, DSH)

- letter of motivation

- a supporting assessment from a lecturer/university teacher

- copy of residence permit (verification of refugee background)

If available:

- proof of income (employment contract, proof of income of the last three months)

- proof of the receipt of BAföG or other scholarships

- proof of previous handling of living expenses as well as savings

- proof of/reference letter on social or community commitment
