The application procedure for restricted and non-restricted bachelor programs (first semester) resides with uni-assist.

Please note that you cannot be enrolled in the degree program if you do not provide proof of sufficient German language proficiency.

Our application acceptance periods are as follows:

Summer Semester: 15 November through 15 January
Winter Semester: 15 March through 15 July

Which documents are necessary?

Applicable for all applicants:

  • School Report/School leaving Certificate (secondary education) in the original language and a translation in German or English

Additionally (if available):

  • Transcript of records of your studies in the original language and a translation in German or English with an explanation regarding the gradind system of your University
  • Graduation Degree in the original language and a translation in German or English
  • For non-restricted degree programs: your current language certificate

  • For restricted degree programs: DSH 2 or equivalent (see language requirements)
  • Higher Education Entrance Exam (Hochschulaufnahmeprüfung) in the original language and a translation in German or English

  • A report of the Assessment Exam from the Studienkolleg

Additionally for applicants from China, Mongolia and Vietnam:

  • Applicants from China, Mongolia and Vietnam have to enclose the certificate as issued by the “Akademische Prüfstelle (APS)” at the German Embassy in their country of origin.

Please note:

Only „APS-Zertifikate“ are accepted. „APS-Bescheinigung“ are not sufficient. „Gruppen-APS“ will only be accepted if they were issued for the Technical University of Dortmund. If you participated in the “Gruppen-APS-procedure” concerning the admission for a Studienkolleg, please submit the relevant documents to your application.

Please note:

The translations have to be done by a certified translator in Germany! Please find more information here.
