Higher semester

You obtained a foreign study degree and you want to apply at TU Dortmund University for a higher semester (bachelor or master degree)?

In order to apply for a higher semester, you will need the credits that were accepted ahead of time by the corresponding department.

Please pay attention to the following steps:

1.      The acceptance of the credits is completed by the appropriate examination board.

2.      You can choose which credits you would like to have accepted. Please use the application for acceptance of academic achievements. If you have any questions, please contact the Academic Advisory Services.

3.      The completed and signed form for acceptance of academic achievements must be included in step 8 of the online application.

4.      The International Office will check your application for a higher education entrance qualification and if access to the requested area of study is possible. You will then be notified in writing or by e-mail about the next steps.

5.      Provided acceptance into a higher semester for a study area with a limited admission is carried out, an application must additionally be provided to the registrar’s office of TU Dortmund University in due form and time.

During the application period, you can find the online application here:

E 3.6 Online Application Button

Our application acceptance periods are as follows:

Summer Semester: 15 November through 15 March
Winter Semester: 15 March through 15 September

On a case-by-case basis you may receive a (paper) application form from the International Office. You need to fill it out by hand and send all necessary documents (only copies!) to the International Office by mail. Please note: it is not possible to send you a confirmation notice.

Important notice: Please find out ahead of time which documents are required for your application or which degree program specific documents are to be submitted.
